Job Description

Azure Quantum is the world’s first full-stack, open cloud quantum computing ecosystem and is dedicated to solving the world’s intractable problems and forever altering our economic, industrial, academic, and societal landscape. In just hours or days, a quantum computer may solve complex problems that would otherwise take billions of years for today’s computers to solve! This has massive implications for research in healthcare, energy, environmental systems, smart materials, and more.

We’re looking for an experienced Software Technical Program Manager to drive the vision and delivery of Azure Quantum hybrid quantum computing toolchain. In this role you will engage directly with our community of innovators developing the next generation of algorithms and some of the largest Microsoft customers exploring quantum computing.

Strategy & Planning – Ability to think holistically and strategically. Leverage understanding of engineering rhythm so that the program team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and decision making happens at the right levels on the team. Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage complex technical programs. Drive alignment between customers, partners, quantum leadership and internal stakeholder teams across quantum to identify and select the best options for evolving our quantum software stack. Partner with the engineering team to contribute, prioritize and deliver on the roadmap for quantum development tools, Q# language and libraries, assets such as world-class sample code, and Azure Quantum curriculum. Track customer and partner feedback, understand, and driving improvements back into our strategy and planning.
Progress Reporting – Deliver reliable score-carding and reporting that provides program owners and leaders information to drive data-driven decision making for dependencies. Track, coordinate and communicate end-to-end project schedules across the quantum team.
Great Partnerships – Manage complex partnerships with excellent communication to clearly align strategic opportunities for growing the quantum ecosystem. Interface with many teams across the Microsoft Quantum to ensure teams are aligned on the goals and priorities so that quantum developer tools integrate well with the rest of the quantum stack.
Schedule – Create and drive a realistic schedule and commitments based upon strategy, available resources, and demonstrated capacity of the team.
Specifications – Write, review, share, and execute product, service, and partnership specifications that clearly define our goals, priorities, deliverables, and measures of success.

Basic Requirements:

BS or above in engineering or related technical field.
6+ years of experience in engineering product/technical program management.
6+ years’ experience managing cross-functional programs and projects within an engineering environment.
Experience writing code (e.g., sample code and documentation).
Experience developing and delivering product demos.


Demonstrated ability to identify problem areas, distill data, establish facts, and drive issues to closure across complex business, program, and customer needs.
Ability to communicate complex issues and trade-offs to development partners and management.
Strong ability to write, speak and present information effectively and persuasively across communication settings.
Experience program managing software development tools.

Travel: 20%
